🌸 The Childhood Pastimes of Bhadra and Krishna: A Divine Janmashtami Tale | Stories of Shri Krishna 🌸
Here’s the full English translation of your story while keeping its devotional and narrative tone intact:
Hare Krishna!
Janmashtami is approaching, and every devotee’s heart is immersed in the divine pastimes of Radha and Krishna. Today, we bring you a sweet story of Shri Krishna that will not only touch your heart but also convey an important spiritual message.
🌞 A Golden Morning in Vrindavan
The first rays of the sun spread a golden blanket over the waters of Yamuna. The streets of Vrindavan began to fill with life again. But there was one corner filled with restlessness. A worried voice was echoing—
"Oh Kanhaiya, where are you? I’ve been looking for you since morning!"
It was the voice of Bhadra — Shri Krishna’s dearest friend. This little cowherd boy spent day and night with Krishna. But today, he was anxious — Kanhaiya was nowhere to be seen. He asked Shridama, Madhumangal, and Stokakrishna, but all laughed it off. Yet Bhadra’s heart was uneasy—
"Could it be that some demon has come again?"
💭 Dauji’s Hint and Krishna’s Secret
Finally, Bhadra went to Balarama. With a gentle smile, Dauji simply said:
"Oh Bhadra, how could Kanha ever be away from you?"
Hearing this, Bhadra turned around — and was stunned! Krishna was standing right there, laughing so hard he held his stomach.
The truth was, Krishna had been following Bhadra the entire day. Wherever Bhadra went, Krishna quietly became his shadow. That’s why Bhadra never saw him.
🪞 Are We Also Like Bhadra?
This is not just a playful childhood pastime — it reflects our own lives. We search for God in the outer world, but He is always within us. Until our faith and love become firm, we cannot see Him — just like Bhadra could not.
🍃 Another Story: Bhadra in the Cave
In another incident, Krishna was busy playing, and Bhadra called Him repeatedly for a meal. But when Kanha didn’t come, Bhadra, upset, went into a cave. When Krishna saw this, He went to pacify Bhadra — but with a mischievous plan.
Krishna transformed Himself into a lion and entered the cave to scare Bhadra.
But Bhadra was not frightened. Instead, he told the lion-shaped Krishna:
"Didn’t I tell you? I’m hungry. Now come along!"
Krishna was astonished — for He had changed His divine form in such a way that no one could recognize Him. At that moment, Yogamaya Devi appeared in the sky and said:
"O Lord, my influence has no effect on Your devotees. They have already won You over with their love."
And just then, a real lion appeared. Bhadra lovingly made it sit, fed it Krishna’s prasadam, and the lion too began dancing in bliss.
🙏 Lessons from This Story
-
Krishna never leaves us; He stays with us like a shadow.
-
When we call upon Him with a sincere heart, He manifests before us.
-
The love of a devotee can win over even the Supreme Lord.
-
Sometimes, what we cannot see is actually closest to us.
